Memorial of a memory, seen here, cast in carera marble explores my own going study into the bond and relationship between me and my twin brother. Casting this piece in marble recognises the solidity of this image of my brother, ‘set in stone’ and engraved in my mind. With this interest of exploring the bond between me and my brother in mind, this singular piece grew into a series of sculptures of my twin brother and me. This series aimed to tie together the range of mediums, subjects, and styles I used in all my final pieces. Bringing in mythological and artist inspiration from Coderch and Malavia, seen in my earlier sculpture Stoic Nymph. Such references can be noticed in the idealised smooth finish of the figurative sculpture, which possesses an element of surrealism. Themes, and symbolisms of childhood, and the relationships I grew up among, from my untitled oil landscape painting.

I also combined themes that I previously investigated, such as memory and family relationships. The main sculpture of the series manifests my twin brother at an age before we grew apart. This version of him I can only ever see in old photographs and videos, this pure and innocent depiction of him manifests how I perceive this version of my brother now I am older. The longing looks in his eyes shows how he knows what will fall upon him in the future, and how our relationship will never be the same.
