My first attempt at sculpture at the age of 14, My Mary is about female empowerment. Inspired by Coderch and Malavia’s Tissues of Time, this piece was made during my mother’s cancer treatment, when she shaved her hair off, she struggled with her identity. This piece highlights that feminity, beauty and strength does not come from what often defines us as women (long hair), it brings awareness to the beauty of women being something much deeper and self defined.
